I go through brief periods when I don’t write much but I’m never not reading. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing so slowly and methodically, almost meditatively, which is what happens when my mind feels a bit scrambled. Over time I’ve learned this is not a bad thing.
Reading slowly, doing things slowly, forces you to look closely at things. It’s the most direct route to absorption, the sweet little covered bridge that spans the gap between enjoyment and appreciation. What I’m trying to say is that slowing down is nice. You should try it. Trust me, you have more time than you think.
