If you follow me you’ll know I don’t spend a lot of time Twitter. Sure, I tweet every once in a while but I don’t hang around looking for trouble. It’s not because I don’t think there are interesting people to meet and conversations to be had there. I’ve had great times on Twitter, but I’ve also had some very frightening bad times — like extended, weeks long psychological torture sessions that left me hobbled and curled up under the duvet feeling sorry for myself, which is stupid because all things considered I have a great life, I love my work and Twitter is not the world.
Over time I’ve come to think of Twitter as an enormous dark throbbing nightclub, the kind of place I went to a lot in first year university in Montreal. Wild times! Mad fun! Until it’s not. And look, after you’ve been taken into the back room and roughed up for days on end it’s hard to see a fun place as anything but a crime scene. Because that’s what Twitter is. For me and a lot of other writers.
This is all to say that Substack has opened a club with different vibe called Notes. Please join me?
Here’s my first post (note? whatever).
Info and link below.
It’s a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress or quick questions.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Juvenescence, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of Juvenescence can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
I have a general rule with Twitter in that I only compliment and generally praise the tweeters . I’ve never had any grief. If your going to nasty say it to their face.🤨
