The audio session below is designed to help you adjust and reset your perspective on your own life and agency in the context of the world right now — mad as it seems it isn’t quite as bad as it seems. Really! This session is a 20-minute an antidote to catastrophizing. Think of it as a fact-based, big-picture, philosophical reality check. It WILL make you feel better. I might even make you feel fucking fantastic. It will work. I promise. Why? Because it can’t not.
Look it’s anodyne yet also weirdly powerful stuff, hypno, so please don’t listen to it while driving or operating heavy machinery or if you happen to be psychotic or epileptic, okay? (Take my word for it, just don’t.)
Once you’ve finished with this post find a comfortable chair in a quiet room and sit down for a listen. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
This week I’ve been busy teaching my first workshop, How To Unstuck Yourself: Unlocking Your Creative Unconscious. It would be an understatement to say I was nervous putting the program together. For days leading up to it I was filled with the kind of cold slippery dread that occurs when you find yourself doing something entirely new in mid-life. What if they realise I’m a fraud? But within the first five minutes of the first session all my anxiety slipped away. I wish I could say it was purely down to self-confidence. But by sheer dumb luck, I found myself in the company of an intimate group of warm and wonderful people from all over the world (USA, Canada, South Africa, France, Ireland, and more).
Literally every single person who enrolled and turned up for the live Zoom sessions was curious, intelligent, funny, open and fundamentally eager to learn. Almost all were also paid subscribers to this newsletter, meaning they all found me through this platform. This was interesting and it got me thinking. Hard. How can I do this more often in a time and cost-effective way?
In the course (which I am planning to run again soon, likely in the spring), I gave a short talk each day, followed by a Q&A session (sometimes with a special guest) after which I led a group hypnotherapy session focused on targeted issues we’d all discussed in advance. I followed each session up by sending all students the audio and video recordings of that day, as well as hand outs and other recommended reading. It was a lot to get through but we did — no shortage of material in the end.
Toward the end of the workshop when I asked the group for feedback, the live hypnotherapy sessions and recordings were everyone’s favourite offering on the course HANDS DOWN. Why? Because hypnotherapy is incredibly relaxing and IT WORKS. If you do it for 20-30 minutes a day for seven days running as my students did, it becomes extremely effective indeed. Hypnotherapy works because it changes the way you think and feel. A healthy shift in perspective toward, rather than away from, fact-based reality. Which is something we could all benefit from. Plus it’s veeery relaxing. A bit like a spa treatment for the mind. Anyway, they loved it. And I suspect so will many of you.
And this made me think even harder: How can I bring online group hypnotherapy sessions and audio to a larger audience on Substack who might appreciate and benefit from it and do so in a way that makes sense for me?
So I recorded the audio above and decided to post it as an experiment. A kind of loss-leader thingy. And if the response is keen, I’m going to try releasing a free hypno audio file for the next few weeks to gauge the response. Please do listen and do let me know what you think. I’m interested in hearing from every single one of you. Honestly.
And when you do sit down to listen, don’t be worried about ‘doing it right.’ All you need to do is find a quiet room, a comfy chair or sofa, recline, close your eyes and relax. I do all the talking. You don’t even have to listen super closely to what I’m saying. Just zone out and let your conscious mind go for a wander while your unconscious mind takes copious notes.
And when you’re done listening, enjoy the rest of your weekend — and your life on this mad bad beautiful planet we call Earth. You are welcome in advance for giving you a super-relaxing pleasurable experience that’s good for you and ACTUALLY WORKS.
I should add that I’m toying with the idea of starting a brand new publication and audio-video podcast devoted specifically and solely to both live and recorded group and one-on-on hypnotherapy.
I haven’t decided what to call it yet. Or precisely how it might work. Ideas, tips, and/or general encouragement and thoughts welcome. All I know is, it will offer paid subscribers access to regular hypno audio and videos as well as live group hypnosis chats, not unlike my course. And while you will need to pay a monthly subscription fee, compared to one-on-one hypnotherapy, it’ll be a steal.
Enjoy.
Love,
Leah
Well, I'm a skeptic and a bit suspicious and cautious — not sure if I WANT to change. At 90 I might change into somebody that's not me, and I ain't ready for that and probably never will be. However, I will listen (once I've written my next Substack and an overdue bio I'm preparing for a client) and I;ll comment then. Meanwhile, if I may say so, that picture of you shows a happy relaxed and confident person; given some of the crap in your life that you've told us about, it looks like you've found that change works for you!
What a lovely voyage. I’m open to this Leah. I have to admit, after a hard spin yesterday and not the greatest sleep last night I did doze off but I was still floating around in the universe.,this doesn’t change who you are but I can see how it may enhance your humanity and love for our planet snd mankind generally. And you do such a lovely job of it. I understand your enthusiasm. A very positive, restorative and even healing experience. Thank you for sharing.
