Good to hear from you again Leah!

Every time I drive from my home in the West Kootenays to ‘civilization’ (the Lower Mainland aka Vancouver), I am awestruck by the vast areas of uninhabited land in this country. Even sitting in my backyard, if I turn around and face the mountains behind me, I am not that far from wilderness. Humbling and yet magnificent.

Enjoy the rest of your visit - aimless driving is my passion x

So enjoyed reading your essay this morning on my porch in the Laurentians. Being Canadian and living in Canada described perfectly!

Summer road trips in Canada are the best!

Learning to sail at a summer camp possibly in the Muskokas even better!

Hopefully the disruption by Air Canada will be minimal going home. Safe travels.

My kind of trip, when I still could. Thanks for savoring it, and not stopping short of telling the tale and details. I will give it away when I ask, "What orange life jacket?"

Love hearing an expat wax poetic about a return to their homeland. Of note: I learned port from starboard from the nicknames of the twins in Swallows and Amazons ….. so, on the port deck. Greetings and safe travels from Tignish, PEI.

Great to see your name again.

Hopefully it’s cooling off where you are now. What a grand adventure. I’d be afraid to travel alone.

My son eloped in Mahone Bay years ago and his daughter is starting Dalhousie in a couple of weeks. Beautiful part of Canada.

With any trips to the States off the calendar, perhaps I will finally get to where you are someday.

My daughters both worked at Ponacka in their teens.

Safe travels.

Finally! A social media post! When you didn't write, call or even send a post card I was beginning to worry. It's comforting to know you are in Canada at least, not the European homeland where things are heating up in more ways than you describe. I'm happy to see you found us Canadians to be as you remembered them. Heck, I'm still prone to using 'eh' but I've eschewed hugging since them covid days. The beater you hired to travel the coast sounds perfect for those red dust roads of PEI. If you stop in at Souris beach (my favourite beach in the whole world), think of me as the sand squeaks between your toes. Me? I'm still doing the eldercare thing but my bride and I will get a break from the 96 year old after being offered some respite. I've booked a place with a hot tub to melt away our tensions. Meanwhile, I wish you well in your navigations. Come airport-back-to-UK- time, say hi in solidarity to those poorly treated Air Canada workers. They're just trying to make a living eh?

Hi Leah, am just from a week in Chester, Nova Scotia (near Lunenberg, Mahone Bay). Indeed- a very fine and kind nation! Glad you’re having an adventure and we get to tag along too…
